A project to connect our communities

"Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail" ----Ralph Waldo Emerson

Our Trail Goals

  • To create this trail through the partnership and voluntary action of willing landowners
  • To improve and preserve our sense of community and quality of life
  • To highlight our agricultural heritage and culture

Pioneer and Transportation stimulus

I was sent this link earlier today where a congressman from Ohio made the following statement:

"I think there's a place for infrastructure. But what kind of infrastructure? Infrastructure to widen highways to ease congestion for American families?...But if we're talking about beautification projects or we're talking about bike paths, Americans are not going to look very kindly on this."

Luckily for us our local politicians and policy makers feel a little differently about the situation and were willing to place our project of converting the Pioneer Water Users Association ditch to a pipeline and multi-use non-motorized trail. Unfortunately we aren't as shovel ready as we had hoped and we had to remove it from their reccommended list for the stimulus package. Since then we have continued our work to move this project forward and met with the PWUA board last week to discuss how we may both work more effectively to make this a success. Seeing the previous quote made me want to remind all of you how important it is for us to try and develop that conciousness of the benefit of trails.
